Pete's Stories

Where was she when I needed her

One of our comrades mentioned an event in the early 1950's that I recall very well.... A ceremony to "drum out" an airman who had received a "Bad Conduct Discharge". I can confirm this since I was part of the 42d AP Sq that escorted the individual to the main gate. We marched out to the cadence to the drum beat and doubled timed back to the Sq area.......... It is interesting that not too long after that our wing commander was sent to Ramey AFB and General Bill Martin assumed command. I did meet  Gen. Martins when I served as part of an honor guard for several VIP's visitors (the kicker to this story is that I found out latter that he was a relative of my future bride.....where was she when I needed her?)
