Home Town: LONG ISLAND,N.Y
Unit at Loring: 75 BOMB SQUAD
First Day at Loring: I ACTUALLY STARTED OUT AS A B-29, B-50 GUNNER,WAS THEN SENT TO WICHITA FALLS FOR AIRCRAFT MECHANIC TRAINING.KOREAN WAR WAS COMING TO AN END.WAS THEN SENT TO LORING AFB, WAS NOT TOO HAPPY,TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY COLD PLACE, COLDER THAN ALASKA.  WAS ASSIGNED AS A MECHANIC ON B-36 S, I WAS A STAFF SGT.  MY BUDDY RED HELLER AND I WERE ASSIGNED TO THE SAME AIRCRAFT.  THIS WAS A SAC BASE,STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND AND THE NAME OF THE B-36  WE SERVICED WAS "GUNG HO".  THERE REALLY WASNT MUCH OF A TOWN, CARIBOU.THE WOMEN DRESSED LIKE FARMERS. POTATOES WERE THEIR MAIN CROP.  A LOT OF AIRMEN USED TO PICK POTATOES TO EARN SOME EXTRA MONEY.  THANK GOODNESS FOR MADAWASKA CANADA.  THE WOMEN LOOKED LIKE WOMEN.  WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR MY DISCHARGE IN 1956 THEY WERE BRINGING IN B-52.  THE PLACE WAS A HELL HOLE.
Most Memorable Experience: GOING TO MADEWASKA,CANADA. CANT REPEAT.HA
Last Day at Loring: I COULD NOT WAIT TO LEAVE.
What did you do after Loring? WORKED IN THE AEROSPACE FIELD FOR 40 YEARS, F-14, ATLAS INERTIAL GUIDANCE SYS, LUNAR MODULE, B-52 GUN SYSTEM.
