Hometown:  sherman, tx

Unit at Loring:  42nd FMS ?

First day at Loring:  It was very cold, lots of snow but overall it was pleasant even though I came directly from southern California.  I found it pleasant due to the contrast of warm climates as I grew up.  My shop colleagues were pleasant and very helpful in my becoming acquainted with my job and my co-workers.

Most memorable experience:   In September, 1955 I met a personable and beautiful lady in Maine who would later become my wife.  When I was discharged, I drove back to Texas but returned a year later and was married.  In the meantime, Doreen had become a registered nurse and that is the reason we waited a year prior to marrying.

Last Day at Loring:   October 12, 1956 was cold, snowy and windy.  The Hungarian revolt had just started and I was almost denied my release but a Warrant Officer interceded.

I began the drive back to Texas that night and it took me almost a week to make it home.

What did you do after Loring: I went to work at an aircraft repair facility in Greenville, Texas and worked there for a couple years.  I was enrolled in college at the same time but later, became an insurance salesman. I graduated from college in 1974 with a business degree.  In 1976 I became a Realtor as well as an insurance agent.  I bought several properties, repaired and then resold them.  At the present time, I am retired and take care of my rent properties.
