First day at Loring:
I drove my 1941 Plymouth Coupe from New Rochelle, NY to Loring AFB. Don't really remember too much about that first day. I was assigned a room with Don Marotta in the 75th BS.
Most memorable experience:
In 1955 we flew on a C-124 to Upper Heyford in England. Stopped in the Azores to refuel. I was allowed to get a hop to Germany to see my parents whom I hadn't seen in almost three years. Another memorable time was when I flew to Mitchell Field on Long Island on a B-36. Our airplane was on the Ed Sullivan Toast of the Town Show. He was there for an open house at Mtchell Field. Of course another memorable time was when I got to meet the famous actor, Jimmy Stewart when he did his training at Loring.
Last Day at Loring:
The last day was a sad day. Had to leave my first wife's family and all my friends behind.
