Hometown:  Woonsocket RI

Unit at Loring:  42 BW Maint and Comd Post

First day at Loring:

No on-base housing was available, so for two weeks we stayed at a motel (second floor)just outside the main gate. Disappointed when we saw the multi-units, having come from Homestead AFB FL.

Most memorable experience:

When our family went looking for a real Christmas tree on base.  It was so cold !!  We picked the first one we saw and got on home.

Last Day at Loring:

It was late fall in 1964.  My spouse had just lost a newborn. I was headed for Goose AB Canada and my family would be staying in RI.

What did you do after Loring:

Got out of SAC, went into MATS (MAC) Command Post at Goose AB Canada. Then after three years there we left in 1967 ( with a three-month daughter ) for

Wright-Patterson AFB (AFLC/AMC). Retired there in 1974 and have been in Dayton OH ever since.
