First day at Loring: I arrived in early autum 1961. It hadn't gotten cold yet.
Most memorable experience: We were stuck out on the Ramp, in order to keep warm we crawled into the compartment of a Light unit (NF-1 ?). We all were a lot smaller then, and fell asleep. When we woke up and found a B-52 parked next to us and it was not unloaded yet, so a CDF guard was there. The look on his face when we all climbed out was priceless.
Last Day at Loring: I left in February 1965. I remember the day was clear but cold. Looking back I was ready to go. Four Loring winters were enough and I had a good idea of what I wanted to do "back in the states".
What did you do after Loring: Went to school and became a licensed airplane mechanic. I worked for TWA and AA. Still work on old airplanes after my retirement for the airlines.
