Hometown: Kingston Unit at Loring: 766th Radar Sqd First day at Loring: Routine day. Drove from New York, checked in, and proceeded to the radar site. Most memorable experience: Running Height radar is the most boring job in the universe. I was talking with the 1st Sgt, and he understood. He offered me the opportunity to run the snack bar on the site, and I jumped at it. A real treat for me. No uniform, work about 4 hours a day and run the shop. I was only there from June 69 until Jan 70, but remember the heavy snowfall. Last Day at Loring: Very short. Finished out-processing at about noon on 20 Jan 1970. Couldn't believe that was all there was to it.
What did you do after Loring: Taught school for 32 years and am now retired in Virginia. If you agree, people can contact you at (email):bmiller1874@gmail.com |
