Hometown: Owego, NY

Unit at Loring: 811th Med Group

First day at LoringFirst day was in November, we stayed in the visitors quarters on Wyoming Circle and soon after had quarters at 4110B Wyoming Circle housing. Met with the hospital administrator, then went to the Pharmacy where I was introduced to the group. Captain Don Nash was the pharmacy officer. Russell Heath was the NCOIC. Made very welcome.

Most memorable experience: Had a part time job with the Base Exchange working the food services at the Airmans Club then to the Igloo across from the Alert Barracks. Worked their with some great guys, Tom Brand, Frank Dornstetter and Rich Bircher, Jim Butterfield. . We enjoyed the brews  and food. Those with wives became supportive to each other through the long winter months.  Frank called into the Officers Club one night and faked an surprise IG inspection team landing.  The base commander/staff rushed to the flight line with lights and sirens to find no plane.  There are others but not for now......

Last Day at Loring: Turned in whites to the hospital laundry, said good byes to all in the hospital after 3 years/8 months. It was on a Friday and had to wait till Monday morning to officially leave.  Wife and 2 boys, born at Loring, left with good thoughts and looking towards civilian life.

What did you do after Loring: E-5 when I left Loring, came back to Owego, went to school for a while, but found it not my best effort. Started at IBM, Federal Systems Division, now Lockheed Martin, Owego, and retired after 36 years.  Still work part time. Was in EMS with Owego Fire Department, life member.  Remarried in 1990.  Enjoy riding our Goldwing Trike, family activities, grand children and friends. Living in Apalachin, NY.
