Hometown:  Limestone, dad was born in Bangor, Maine

Unit at Loring:  42nd supply, squadron, was father.  He worked in the office

First day at Loring:

I do not remember much because I was born on the base April 28, 1961.  My first real memory is a sled accident. I also fell and broke my collarbone playing. I do remember the snow, the airplanes, the hills, and the fragrance of potatoes.  I remember that my parent's picked potatoes, and my sister and I were brought along. I clearly remember the smell of the potatoes and the dirt. I loved the military life afforded us. My dad stayed in for 25 years and climbed the ranks. But nothing compares to the simple life and that was shown to me in my home town of Limestone, Maine, Loring Air Force Base. My love and respect for the veterans, airplanes, pilots has followed me throughout my life.

Most memorable experience:

I think the story of going along as 2&3 yr. olds while my mom and dad picked potatoes on the weekend for some extra cash. Newly married with two children they earned extra money that way. The good old days..........

Last Day at Loring:

I only remember we traveled overseas to Ramstein, Air Force Base in 1966, and leaving for the airport. I have never returned but it is on my list of things to do in life.

What did you do after Loring:

Live in Fl.  Became a teacher and also received a Master's Degree in Social Work.
