Hometown:  Kent, Ohio

Unit at Loring:  42nd CES - Fire Dept.

First day at Loring:

Freezing!  After two years at Wheelus AB, Libya and coming to Loring in January in the middle of a snow storm wasn't wasn't much fun.

Most memorable experience:

I spent some time here and there at the fire station at East Loring with a mostly civilian crew and most of them had been there for years.  What a bunch of guys they where.  They sort of adopted me and included me in their fishing and hunting trips. What a hoot that was!

Last Day at Loring:

Sort of sad.  I made a lot of friends both on and off base but had already been appointed to the fire department in Cleveland so off I went.

What did you do after Loring:

After Loring I spent 29 years with the Cleveland, Ohio fire department, retired as a battalion chief.  From there I went to work for DOE and spent 8 years at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, CO as assistant fire chief.  That lasted until 1998 when we were BRAC and closed.  After Fitz it was out to Rocky Flats for DOE as Deputy Fire Chief for training until 2006 when the site was closed.  Now several of us are doing training programs regarding nuclear materials and counter terrorism.  Can't seem to sit still and have to always be doing sometihing.
