Hometown:  Wheeling WV

Unit at Loring:  42nd CES/roads & Grounds

First day at Loring:

I was really confusing. I didn't really know anything when my wife and I arrived. I finally contacted my sponser and he helps me find a place to live and get processed in. Nothing really exceptional happened on my first day.

Most memorable experience:

We were digging up some kind of line in Bomber Alert and I was sent in to help. I took a new equipment operator with me that had just gotten his line badge. It was raining off and on that day. I went into the entry control point first and saw the SP looking past me. I turned around and saw the new troop standing behind me. I just turned around and waited for the inevitable. But there was justice that day. The new troop was searched in the rain while I was searched under the overhang. I thought it was funny even when it was happening.

Last Day at Loring:

I was excited about going to Osan AB, Korea. Several of my shopmates were going there too, so I wasn't leaving all my friends behind. Today, I still talk about some of the incidents that happened to me. It was the best time of my life.
