Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Unit at Loring:  42 Security Police Sq (LE)

First day at Loring:  I arrived about 1400, on December 15, 1975, reported in, got a room in the barracks because my family was not with me yet, and remember it was dark by 1530.  Thank God I was in a quiet part of the barracks for the two weeks I was there.

Most memorable experience:   I don't have any one favorite story, life was good when I was there. I had always  heard about how awful being assigned to Loring AFB would be...boring Loring and such. To me it was quite the opposite, I enjoyed my tour there. I sort of keep in contact with the area via the crownofmaine.com web site and their web cams in Caribou and Presque Isle. Some place on your site there were some articles about the UFO/helicopter sightings on December 15, 1975 over the WSA in October 1975. I was not there yet but when I arrived in 1975 that was one of the first things I heard about from the people who I worked with and were there. To this day those events are mentioned on a late night talk radio.

Last Day at Loring:   It was sad. I left for Turkey at the end of June 1979 on a 12 month remote tour. My family remained in base housing while I was gone. I did return in February of 1980 for two weeks on  a mid-tour leave.

What did you do after Loring: I retired from the Air Force in 1990 and have been working for the Chandler Arizona Police Department. I live near Gold Canyon Arizona which is near Apache Junction, Arizona.
