Home Town: Shreveport, LA
Unit at Loring: 42 Air Refueling Squadron
First Day at Loring: I arrived at Loring on a Friday afternoon in mid May.  I remember the country side being beautiful.  I was surprised at how isolated the base was.  What really amazed me is that on Saturday morning when I woke up and got dressed, I went outside to discover that snow was falling.
Most Memorable Experience: During the summertime, when not deployed or standing Alert, many neighbors would sit outside after the duty day was over and talk.  I had one neighbor who enjoyed making daiquiris, and he would always serve daiquiris to anyone who would sit in visit in our little circle of lawn chairs.
Last Day at Loring: My last day at Loring was a day of fond memories for me and my family.  We met several local families and had been good friends with Dr. Dale Smith who lived upon Prestile Hill.  My wife and I had always felt like he was our surrogate "father" while we were stationed at Loring.
What did you do after Loring? I retired from the USAF in 1996 while stationed at Nellis AFB, NV.  How's that for opposite weather conditions?  I still live in Las Vegas, NV.
