Hometown:  Marshfield, Wi.

Unit at Loring:  Hospital

First day at Loring:  New Years Eve 1974.  My wife, 3 year old son, and myself had just driven up from Texas, no snow on the ground, but was very cold.  I had just returned from a short tour in Greenland, picked up my family in San Antonio and drove north.  My boss came over to see us, we had been stationed together in San Antonio, at Wilford Hall.  He and his wife were on the way to a party.  We of course were invited, but declined.  We were glad to be in Maine and together again.

Most memorable experience:

Last Day at Loring:   I don't remember, it was June 1979, but I don't remeber anything special.  I was ready to leave the Air Force, but not Maine.  One day I was in the Air Force, the next day I was in the Army National Guard in Caribou.  We hung around Maine until Nov. 1985.  I even graduated from UMPI (1980) We still miss it.

What did you do after Loring: Lived many places since than, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nevada and Wisconsin.  Retired after 27 years in the US Army ( 3 Years), USNR (3 years), US Air Force (8 years) and Army National Guard (13 years).  I also still miss the service.
