Home Town: New Carlisle, Ohio
Unit at Loring: 42nd OMS
First Day at Loring: I arrived January 8, 1973 in my red 1966 Pontiac 2+2 two-door coupe.  Got setlled in the barracks and as the First Shirt escorted me to my room we walked through the dayroom where about 15 guys were watching TV and started singing "Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder".  The First Shirt turned and looked at me and smiled, your welcoming committee.
Most Memorable Experience: I had purchased a new 1974 GMC pickup truck and five of us were drinking beer in the barracks.  It was snowing very heavily, got 22 inches by morning, and one of the guys said, " hey Vlasic let's go out in your new truck and jump out the back into snow drifts."  So we did.  Had a blast until Security Police arrested us, impounded my truck.  The Squadron Maintenance Officer had to come sign for us so that we could go back to the barracks.
Last Day at Loring: Sunny warm, May 4th 1976.  Packed up my truck to head home back to Ohio.  Pretty nice now that I reflect back on it.
What did you do after Loring? Worked 30 years for the Air Force here in Ohio as a radar design engineer.  I am now retired and loving life.
