Hometown:  Vernon Ct

Unit at Loring:  42nd Trans

First day at Loring:  Arrived early and had Dan Hanby as a sponsor. He was gone and was no where to be found. Spent 3 days in the VOQ losing my mind. It was January and the base was all but deserted for the New Year break. I knew no one or where to go for anything. Still, I had my 64 Dodge that started most days and so I drove around the base exploring.

Most memorable experience:   There are so many, there is really no where to start. From the snowmobiles to the hours spent in the wrecker on snow control, the stories would fill volumes.

Last Day at Loring:   Very sad. Spent my whole 4 year tour there and made some good friends and had some good times. Was hard looking in the rear view and seeing the gate fade for the last time.

What did you do after Loring: Gotten married, started a cleaning business, moved to Maine. (Of course) Still visit Loring now and then. It is a sad sad place to go. I am drawn there like a magnet but hate to go there but still do. If you stand in some places on base, you can still hear the Buffs throttling up doing touch and goes.
