Home Town: New Providence, NJ
Unit at Loring: 42nd Transportation Sqdn
First Day at Loring: Cold, snowy and the whole family had to visit the base hospital on our arrival because of colds.
Most Memorable Experience: Going through the earthquake in 1982. Everyone was very surprised to learn there was an earthquake fault line nearby in New Brunswick Province. We also had 220 inches of snow that winter which exceeded the normal snowfall average of 120 inches. Plowing the airfield was a major challenge.
Last Day at Loring: Very warm. We departed Loring for our new assignment at Hickam AFB, HI.
What did you do after Loring? Went on to serve with PACAF at Hickam AFB, HI and 21st Air Force (AMC) at McGuire AFB, NJ where I retired in 1987. I then worked for the NJ Dept of Transportation until retiring as the Manager, Bureau of Freight Services in 2008.
