Hometown:  Washburn, Maine

Unit at Loring:  Bomb Nav and then Quality Control

First day at Loring:

I flew into Maine from Keesler in March in the middle of a freaking blizzard!  Need I say more?  However, being a northern Maine girl, wasn't anything I wasn't used to.  I was talked into going in the Air Force by several friends who were military police at Loring (Dick, Gary, Joe...).

Most memorable experience:

Way too many to list, but most prominent was being given a "meal" card because I had issues with my finances and a newby had just come into Quality Control.  I ripped it up and he told on me.  Needless to say, I spent a week in the brig, doing special tasks at the Alert Facility, but it was more of a party since the night crew thought it would be cool to bring in beer and sit around and drink, plus working at the alert facility I got to see my male friend!!!  Looking back, would change a lot, but many of us were young and foolish then.

Last Day at Loring:

Sad for so many reasons.  Like all the other bio's I've read, it was the friends you had made and somehow knew for the most part that you would eventually lose contact with!  At Loring, you were like a family, all for one and one for all!

What have you done since Loring:

I moved to Las Vegas, stayed there for a year and then moved back to Maine.  Married into the Navy, still married 26 years later.  Have 4 awesome kids and 3 grandchildren! For work, stayed in my field of training "Staff Support Specialist".  An admin person is the backbone of everything and I really enjoyed it, working in legal, banking, transportation and now manage a small trucking company here in Presque Isle, ME.
