Home Town: Alexandria, LA
Unit at Loring: 42 AMS
First Day at Loring: I came in via bus up from Bangor in mid November 1986 during a record setting 3 ft snowstorm.  Hwy 1 was white and looked like it was a logging road.  Just North of Mars Hill, I began to get very scared.  I saw snow almost up to the roofs of some buildings and it wasn't even full on Winter yet!  It took a few weeks to learn that these were potato houses that were already built partially below ground.
Most Memorable Experience: All the practical jokes pulled on co-workers in the 42 AMS Bomb Nav field shop.
Last Day at Loring: I hung around in Presque Isle a couple of years after the base closed.  My last day at Loring was sad.. base housing was already becoming overgrown and kind of eerie in its emptiness.  It was cool to see some parts of the base were utilized but it was still very much a ghost town.
What did you do after Loring? Computer programmer at UMPI, Oklahoma City, Tyler Texas, and now Alexandria Louisiana
