Home Town: Urbandale, Iowa
Unit at Loring: 42 OMS
First Day at Loring: Confusing. My orders were "cancelled in route" so I didn't have a duty station when I got there. I was also expecting snow and there wasn't any.  I was told to "wait untill tomorrow" on both accounts.  The following day it was snowing (26") and I was sent to "maintenance"  I thought they ment CE but it turned out to be OMS.
Most Memorable Experience: Taking my wife along on an insentive flight on a KC-135 and watching the inflight refuling of a B-52. It was the first time she had ever flown.
Last Day at Loring: It was snowing again, and we drove a 26' truck towing a car through white-out conditions from the base to Presque Isle, and then found out that they had closed the highway just after we passed Caribou. We were the last ones out that day!
What did you do after Loring? Relocated to the Des Moines Iowa area. Continue to work for a US Goverment Agency.
