Home Town: Aston, PA
Unit at Loring: 42 AMS
First Day at Loring: Drove up I95 and found out it was closed between Exits 1 & 2.  Trooper had to direct me through Houlton to pick up Rt 1.  Was amazed at the towns I drove through to get to the base.  Having come from Ellsworth in South Dakota, I marveled at all the trees on base.  It took three days to get acclimated to the base.  Couldn't believe that at the end of March, there were still 6 and 7 foot walls of snow along the sides of the road.   Never met people who were glad to have the military in their community like those all over Aroostook County.  They were what made the assignment the best of my career.
Most Memorable Experience: The night I heard fog horns blaring and realized there was no waterway except the Aroostook River.  I looked out my front door and saw a moose walking right down the middle of the street.
Last Day at Loring:
What did you do after Loring? Turned my electronic training into a career repairing computers and peripherals.
