Home Town: Boston
Unit at Loring: 42 FMS
First Day at Loring: The pine, fir, birch and spruce trees among the agriculture land set upon big blue sky's  got my attention right away. The base was quite and had healthy green lawns. I loved it from day one.
Most Memorable Experience: "2-3 feet of snow over night. Had to move that snow and make it to work on time. Always did.

There are these buildings out behind the runway where it is said that nuclear development took place. We saw those buildings all cemented up tight; they looked spooky.

Last Day at Loring: Moved out when it was 50 below zero. The radiators in the house blew their tops spewing a black like ink on the floors because we had to have the doors open for the movers. I had to clean that up too for the "white glove" inspection from the housing office. Later learned that house was never lived-in again due to the base closure.
What did you do after Loring? Moved to Fairchild AFB Spokane WA after the LAFB closure. Then spent 3 years in Saudi Arabia as a contractor work with the Saudi AF as a trainer. Have been in San Antonio with Boeing for the past 14 years. Currently on the 787 program.
