Home Town: Portland, Me
Unit at Loring: OMS
First Day at Loring: Wow, it has been years. My Dad drove me up from home, didn't know that it took so long to get from one end of the state to the other. I-95 was still a 2 lane in some sections. Really made me wonder driving through the gate and seeing the sign of the Moose is Loose on Loring AFB.
Most Memorable Experience: Working a Friday mid shift due to a Saturday AM launch and waking up to a moose looking into the front windshield of the metro.
Last Day at Loring: I almost got to put the lock on the gate, it was hard to leave a place that was known as home. After almost 14 years of being there, the number of friends that were going into different directions and hoping to cross paths with them again.
What did you do after Loring? I left Loring and got stationed at Ellsworth. Spent 15 years working on the B-1. And while in processing running into old Loring folks like Marty Boone and Ray Harmon, who after all these years still has his clam digger accent. Finally retired in 2009 after serving a total of 29 years. Have a beautiful wife that followed me out from Maine and we also have a lovely daughter. We are calling South Dakota home for now.
