Hometown:  Buffalo, NY

Unit at Loring:  42nd Security Police Squadron

First day at Loring:  Loring was my first duty assignment after tech school. I drove there from NY. My first day on the base had me thinking "Why was I sent to THIS place" I was not very excited to be there.

Most memorable experience:   Some of us that worked overnight shift would get out of work at 7 am and gather our fishing equipment and go fishing for a few hours in the morning before heading back to the dorms to get some sleep. That was always the best way to relax after work.

Last Day at Loring:   It was a very sad day. I met so many friends there and have grown to love the area (I still do to this day) and really did not want to leave. Falling in love with a local girl made it even harder to leave since I had orders to do a remote assignment in Alaska.

What did you do after Loring: I went to Alaska for 3 years and left the Air Force in 1992 and moved back to my hometown. I am still in my hometown today and keep telling my wife we are going to travel back to the Loring area one of these days. Maybe she will like the area as much as I do.
