Home Town: Charlottesville
Unit at Loring: 42 BMW/IN
First Day at Loring: Interesting, -15 degrees, 3 feet of snow on the ground, luggage lost in Boston, no uniform, reported to my commander in civies with only a LEVI denim jacket I picked up leaving the Phillipines for cover!  All went well from there on, got issued a parka and other staples but boy what an introduction...
Most Memorable Experience: Have several: Confronting moose while walking to visit friends in base housing, black flies, record snowfall -- 222 inches in 1981, and trips to Canada.
Last Day at Loring: Great except the remote assignment to Kunsan, Korea that I was heading to!  Outprocessing and farewells went smooth, can still vividly recall staring at the Headquarters building as I drove away to Virginia wondering what the future held for me.
What did you do after Loring? Completed a bachelor and masters degree, held several interesting assignments before retirement from the Air Force in 1999, now working/living in the Northern VA area.
