Home Town: Melbourne
Unit at Loring: 42 OMS / 4300 PMS
First Day at Loring: COLD! I'm a warm-weather person with no experience of a northern winter; arriving at Loring was an eye-opener!!
Most Memorable Experience: All my Loring buddies along with my then-husband conspired to throw me a going-away party when I cross-trained to become a Flight Engineer. I was totally in the dark and the party was a huge surprise!
Last Day at Loring: I suppose pretty happy. I never did get acclimated to the weather, and I was glad to be doing something different.
What did you do after Loring? I cross-trained to be a C-5 flight engineer after being a B-52G mechanic both at Loring and on Diego Garcia during the first Gulf War. Even though I didn't love Loring, the maintenance background gave me the opportunity to experience what were the absolute best days of my life. Flying on C-5s was a dream-come-true and I couldn't have done it without Loring and the B-52.
